DARLEEN YU

Darleen Yu has been called to serve as choir director, choral clinician, consultant of various music, theater groups and academic institutions.

She is the recipient of the Excellence award in Conducting from the U.P. College of Music, where she also earned her Bachelor of Music degree major in Choral Conducting, concentration in piano and minor in voice (magna cum laude).

She has served as jury for numerous music competitions and festivals, including the National Music Competitions for Young Artists (NAMCYA) where she emerged as winner in the piano category, and was also a winner in the Piano Teachers Guild of the Philippines (PTGP) piano competitions.

She was Assistant Conductor and Alto section leader of the San Miguel master Chorale which recorded and commercially released nine CDs, and premiered over a hundred original Filipino works. She represented the Philippines and wont the European Grand Prix as member of the Philippine Madrigal singers in the Tolosa and Tours choral competitions of Europe.

As Music Director and Conductor, she has led her groups in international concert tours, performances for heads of state, album recordings, large scale productions at the CCP Main Theater, and has conducted the Manila Philharmonic Orchestra, the Manila Symphony Orchestra, and in her college days, the Philippine Madrigal Singers, Madz et. al. Festival Choirs, the Ateneo de Manila College Glee Club, among many others.

She brings with her over 2 decades of experience teaching music to children and adults, holding workshops for choirs, music teachers, and conductors locally and internationally. Aside from being Managing Director of SoundLife Studios, she also served as faculty at the Asian Institute for Liturgy and Music.
